yes. i called it 'parent warning sensor' lol.
HOW IN THE WORLD DID I GET THIS IDEA??
1. My mom always comes into my room without knocking.
I'm not allowed to lock the doors in the house..
2. This happens especially during my important meetings or durng my private moments..
3. I really hate it and she doesn't seem to care. We will then start an argument over this matter and lose our good bond..
THUS!! I have came up with a solution. I want to put a motion sensor at the door. BEFORE my mom can even touch the door knob, the sensor will sense her and light red or green depending on my availbility.
This means:
And the prototyping starts. First I had to get materials needed.
Materials used:
Arduino UNO
PIR Motion Sensor
WS2812 LED Strip
Jumper Cables
Then, I pieced everything together and starting writing code.
Wiring with Motion Sensor
Connection with LED strip
Omg this took me WAY too long to do. My coding is not the best lol. But anyways I did it! So time to make my models.
Now, I needed sort of a box / case to fit the wiring and Arduino inside. Then I needed a hanger to hang the whole system on a door handle.
^^ Above is the top of the box. I add two holes to it, each for the USB ports to be plugged into. It fits my Arduino board snuggly and does not fall out. I added ample space at the top for the jumper cables.
I added these 4 "plugs" to fit into the holes of the Arduino board so with a little bit of double sided tape, the Arduino can hold itself in.
Using the dimensions of the top of the box, I made this top lid, to place my LED strip nice and snug, where it fits exactly. The reason I made the lining for the LED strip to be placed in was because I wanted for the product to look as neat as possible.
I then made the bottom of the box / case. The two sticks that sticks up acts as a stopper for the top part of the case.
I also added a small platform with exact dimensions of the breadboard to fit snugly inside so it doesn't fall out. PLUS, no extra tape is needed to stick it down.
At the bottom of the bottom of the case, I added this circle "hook" to be able to hook into any door knob, in which I connected it to the middle of the case so there are no chances of it breaking off and is as sturdy as possible.
Lastly, I made a case for the motion sensor to nice fit and blend into the entire casing design.
Alright, that's all the models! Time to print
3D Printing Time!!
Yay 3D Printing done! now time to piece everything together
Fitting the pieces
I present to you... Parent Warning Sensor!!
